BRECO Federal Credit Union was founded in 1934 by a small group of Baton Rouge Electric Company employees who pooled their savings to create a financial alternative for themselves and their co-workers. Baton Rouge Electric Company later became Gulf States Utilities and in 1994, GSU merged into Entergy Corporation. BRECO FCU is a non-profit, member owned financial institution.
In July 2003, Barnard & Burk Federal Credit Union merged with BRECO FCU and assets reached $30 million. Today, BRECO FCU has over 5,200 members and assets over $44 million. BRECO FCU can now serve employees, retirees and their family members from:
